Sveza invites innovation developers to collaborate on industrial technology solutions

Sveza Group is strengthening its focus on production technology innovations aimed at reducing operational costs and increasing equipment reliability. As part of its 2025 strategic priorities, the company is targeting raw materials optimization, extended lifespan of production equipment and components, and the development of import-independent solutions. In support of this focus, Sveza is relaunching its Open Innovations Portal to engage with new technological partners.

The open partnership model enables direct collaborations with engineers, startups, and inventors, allowing Sveza to quickly identify and test viable solutions in real manufacturing processes.

Sveza’s current open challenges include removing sand and remaining bark from birch logs after debarking; veneer moisture equalization; lowering the rotation age of birch trees; and timber transportation during off-road season. Developers are invited to respond to the published challenges or submit unsolicited proposals. All submissions undergo expert review within 14 days, after which authors receive detailed feedback.

The collaboration format is based on pilot projects, with the potential for full-scale implementation. Where applicable, unique solutions may be eligible for patenting, joint registration, or exclusive distribution. The model has already proven successful — a recent collaboration with a partner in Kostroma has led to the development of a veneer defect scanner and several equipment restoration solutions under the national import substitution program.

“We’re not looking for ideas for the sake of ideas. We need practical, measurable, and results-driven solutions that can be implemented in real production environments,” says Alexander Morev, Head of Business Systems Development Projects at Sveza. “Depending on the stage of development, we can offer testing grounds, acquire a ready-to-use technology, or provide expert support to help fine-tune promising innovations.”

Sveza welcomes proposals from both Russian and international developers. Priority will be given to practice-oriented solutions. Key evaluation criteria include technological feasibility, economic impact, and industrial applicability. All intellectual property rights are protected in accordance with applicable laws.
